FabLab Iran

FabLab IRAN(FabLab.ir) was formed in 2014 as a digital fabrication laboratory to provide an open access environment for anyone who desires to invent, design, and share knowledge across international borders. Our Tehran-based fablab’s mission is to provide access to the tools and  knowledge to educate, innovate and invent using technology and digital fabrication to allow anyone to make (almost) anything, and thereby creating opportunities to improve lives and livelihoods around the world.

We have a DIY 120 square meter creative space that provides open and membership based access to digital fabrication tools, education workshops, making events and a vibrant community. We help individuals and universities learn about the application of digital technologies, rapid  prototyping, 3D printing and  design practices.  Fablab Iran gives everyone the capability to turn their ideas and concepts into reality.

Now, we have a range of fabrication tools including laser cutters, 3D printers, milling machines, sewing machines, and traditional hand tools (saws, drills, hammers, chisels etc).

Our Lab provides four core services:

1. Shared work-space for schools, universities & individuals to work and develop ideas

2. Offer access to various digital fabrication machines

3. Skills development and technology education through events & workshops

4. A business accelerator, translating innovative concepts into businesses

What's a FabLab?

Fab Lab is the educational outreach component of MIT’s Center for Bits and Atoms (CBA),

an extension of its research into digital fabrication and computation. A Fab Lab is a technical prototyping platform for innovation and invention, providing stimulus for local entrepreneurship. A Fab Lab is also a platform for learning and innovation: a place to play, to create, to learn, to mentor, to invent. To be a Fab Lab means connecting to a global community of learners, educators, technologists, researchers, makers, and innovators- -a knowledge sharing network that spans 30 countries and 24 time zones. Because all Fab Labs share common tools and processes, the program is building a global network, a distributed laboratory for research and invention.
